Federal Police Raid Properties in Germany in Suspected Human Trafficking Operation

Federal police in southwestern Germany conducted early morning raids in Mannheim, Karlsruhe, and Worms, targeting a suspected human trafficking operation involving migrants from the Caucasus region. A total of 400 officers searched 24 properties, resulting in the arrest of at least four individuals. The investigation focuses on a group of seven men and women believed to have been smuggled into Germany to work illegally for less than the minimum wage.

Key Findings:

Authorities discovered the group used forged EU ID cards to facilitate illegal employment below the statutory wage. The operation also uncovered instances of human trafficking for financial gain, hiring foreign workers without permits, and forgery offenses. Investigators are also looking into possible misappropriation of social security payments.

The raids come amid tighter border controls following a fatal knife attack and rising irregular migration in Germany. The efforts aim to address security threats and combat illegal activities that exploit vulnerable individuals.
