MTCIT Launches Campaign to Promote National Digital Economy Programme in Dakhliyah
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has initiated a campaign in Dakhliyah to boost the National Digital Economy Programme. Partnering with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the campaign aims to educate government employees, individuals, and students on Oman’s digital transformation, e-commerce, and infrastructure development plans.
The programme is a crucial part of Oman’s vision for the digital economy to make up 10% of the GDP by 2040. Focus areas include government digital transformation, financial technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence advancements.
MoCIIP will emphasize the need for regulating online commercial transactions to create a secure environment for consumers and businesses, positioning Oman as a regional e-commerce hub by 2027. CBO will showcase efforts towards financial inclusion through innovative electronic payment solutions, such as the ‘Know Your Customer’ platform. TRA will highlight enhancements in digital infrastructure, including expanding broadband coverage and advancing 5G networks to accelerate digital transformation in various sectors.
