Parliamentarians in Morocco are advocating for the extension of passport validity from 5 to 10 years, aligning it with other official documents like the national ID card. This move aims to ease the financial and logistical burden on citizens who face the hassle of frequent passport renewals. MPs and consumer advocates support this proposal to streamline the process and reduce costs.
The extended validity period is expected to benefit Moroccans both domestically and internationally, especially the diaspora who encounter difficulties due to the distance from consular offices. The Ministry of Interior is yet to make a final decision on this matter.
