Great news for the survivors of the October 7 tragedy in Israel! The government has taken significant steps to provide increased access to treatments for survivors in need. Firstly, soldiers who were present at the Nova festival, even if not on duty, are now eligible for financial compensation like other survivors. This recognition is a crucial step towards supporting those affected by the tragic event. Secondly, the Health Ministry and the National Insurance Institute have extended eligibility for mental health treatments, offering an additional 12 sessions beyond the initial 36 available.
The efforts to secure these necessary treatments were led by dedicated individuals such as MK Naama Lazimi and MK Karin Elharrar, who advocated for the survivors in the Knesset committees. Families of survivors will also have access to subsidized psychological counseling, recognizing the trauma that extends beyond the survivors themselves. This collaborative effort aims to provide comprehensive support and care for all those impacted by the Nova Festival tragedy.
It’s heartening to see the government and community coming together to prioritize mental health and well-being in the aftermath of such a devastating event.
