ICPC warns UBEB, SUBEB & others to avoid illegality

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, recently cautioned managers of the Universal Basic Education Board and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) against bypassing due processes. This warning was issued during a capacity-building workshop in Abuja organized by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN).

Dr. Aliyu highlighted various areas in the education sector that are prone to corruption, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability. He stressed the impact of corruption on the quality of education in Nigeria and called for adherence to the mandates of the education boards.

The workshop aimed to address issues such as integrity in governance, implementing government projects effectively, and fostering transparency and accountability in processes. The provost of ACAN, Professor Olatunde Babawale, reiterated the importance of enhancing service delivery through transparency.

Participants were urged to utilize the knowledge gained to improve their duties and uphold the law. The workshop emphasized the significance of promoting integrity and accountability in the management of basic education to ensure sustainable development and quality service delivery.
