Hungarian FM: ‘Peace’ Now Considered a Swear Word – Other Media

In a speech at the Summit of the Future at the UN headquarters, Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto warned that tensions between Russia and Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East could escalate and threaten global security. He emphasized that the world may face the outbreak of a Third World War or division into blocs if current tensions continue to rise.

Szijjarto criticized the stigmatization of those advocating for peaceful solutions and diplomatic efforts to resolve crises, particularly in relation to the Ukrainian conflict. Hungary has been vocal in calling for a diplomatic solution to the crisis, refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine and questioning the effectiveness of EU sanctions against Moscow.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban recently embarked on a ‘peace mission’ to ease tensions between Russia and Ukraine, proposing concessions regarding NATO expansion in Europe to Moscow. However, his initiative faced criticism from EU officials, who stated that Orban did not represent the EU’s position.

Szijjarto stressed the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in international relations, calling for a fundamental change in the global political system and highlighting the UN’s role in resolving current conflicts.
