In a fiery speech at the UN General Assembly, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the inaction of the United Nations on the crisis in Gaza, accusing Israel of turning the territory into the “world’s largest children’s and women’s cemetery”. Erdogan called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, criticizing Israeli military operations that have claimed thousands of lives.
He also chastised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, likening him to Adolf Hitler and urging the international community to stop the “murder network” in Israel. Regional leaders, including Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Qatar’s Emir, also spoke out against Israel’s actions at the UNGA, calling for humanitarian aid and denouncing the conflict as a genocide.
‘A clear genocide’
Additionally, Erdogan voiced support for Lebanon, where Israel has launched attacks targeting Hezbollah. He criticized the UN Security Council for its inaction and called out countries supporting Israel unconditionally.
Erdogan highlighted the failure of the United Nations to uphold global stability and justice, describing it as a “dysfunctional structure”.
