The meeting between President Yoon Suk-yeol and the leadership of the main opposition party, People Power Party, concluded at 8 pm on the evening of the 24th with a dinner. The dinner took place outdoors at the fountain garden in front of the presidential office.
Although the dinner began at 6:30 PM and lasted for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, the open outdoor setting made it difficult to engage in deep conversations. After the dinner, the People Power Party leadership and Cheong Wa Dae officials took a brief walk around the grounds before departing.
Discussions at the dinner mainly revolved around the October parliamentary inspection, recent inter-party relations, President Yoon’s visit to the Czech Republic, and the nuclear energy ecosystem. There were no confirmed discussions regarding contentious issues such as the opposition’s demand for a special prosecutor on the Kim Gun-hee case or the Cha Sa-byeong special prosecutor law.
During the dinner, President Yoon reportedly joked with the party leader about his preference for meat, intending to create a sense of familiarity amidst tensions between the presidential office and the party. It was attended by 12 presidential aides and 16 People Power Party members, including the party leader and the chief policy makers.
