The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to give a pre-Diwali treat to its 15 lakh employees and eight lakh pensioners by possibly increasing dearness allowance (DA) by 4%. Reports suggest that non-gazetted employees may also receive bonuses as part of this announcement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government is waiting for the central government’s DA hike announcement, expected at the end of September or early October, before finalizing their decision. The increase in DA will benefit eight lakh state government employees and put a Rs 3,000 crore burden on the state exchequer.
Last year, non-gazetted employees received around Rs 7,000 in bonuses, and this year’s bonus is expected to be slightly higher. As for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, no proposal is currently under consideration by the government, despite demands from various government employee unions.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the UP government prepares to make significant announcements for its employees and pensioners ahead of the festive season.
