Spain denounces Israeli strikes on Lebanon, urges de-escalation in Middle East.

Spanish Government Condemns Israeli Attacks on Lebanon

The Spanish government has expressed “deep dismay and condemnation” over the recent Israeli attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon. Emphasizing the need for a cease-fire in Gaza to reduce regional tension, the government condemned Israel’s bombardments in response to Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel. Stressing the importance of avoiding war at all costs and respecting civilian lives and international humanitarian law, Spain called for a de-escalation of tensions and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

At least 492 people have been killed and over 1,645 others injured in the massive Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. The Israeli army targeted around 800 Hezbollah locations in southern Lebanon, marking the heaviest bombardment since the start of hostilities. Tension between Hezbollah and Israel has escalated following deadly airstrikes and explosions in Lebanon.
