RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan believes that the West’s obsession with wokeism is a catastrophe, and Russia’s defense of traditional values could make it a safe haven for those fleeing this ideology. Speaking at the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg, Simonyan emphasized the importance of preventing Western ideas from contaminating other cultures.
She criticized the West for promoting practices that go against traditional values, such as same-sex marriage, the child-free movement, and gender reassignment. Simonyan highlighted the need for Russia to uphold values like human dignity, moral ideals, family, and patriotism, rather than succumbing to the woke agenda.
By promoting traditional values as Russia’s national ideology, Simonyan believes the country can improve its demographic situation and offer a refuge for those seeking to escape wokeism. She urged for a return to the Soviet Union’s idea of universal equality and suggested that Russia could be a safe haven for normalcy in a world dominated by Western ideologies.
Recently, President Vladimir Putin eased visa rules for foreigners who align with traditional Russian values, signaling a shift towards embracing these principles at a national level.
