Université Général Lansana Conté (UGLC) from Sonfonia Conakry, Guinea, secured a thrilling victory over the host, University of Lagos (UNILAG), with a score of 67-66 in the ongoing 11th All African University Games (FASU Games) basketball event.
The 11th FASU Games, named Lagos 2024, is jointly hosted by UNILAG and Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo. Despite UNILAG taking the lead in the first quarter, UGLC fought back in the second quarter and clinched the victory by just one point in the final quarter.
UNILAG attributed their loss to a poor defensive strategy, with player Daramola Micheal acknowledging the need for improvement in defense and free throws. However, they are determined to bounce back in the next match.
UGLC’s forward and “Man of the Match” Keita Karfalla credited their offensive approach for the success, emphasizing their teamwork and effective offensive tactics.
