Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, announced that Tehran is prepared to begin new nuclear negotiations if other parties are willing to engage in talks. As Araghchi prepares to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he emphasized Iran’s willingness to restart negotiations if other parties show the same commitment. Following the election of President Masoud Pezeshkian, who has promised to engage with Western powers to lift sanctions and alleviate economic pressure, the possibility of reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remains on the table.
While the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has signaled openness to engaging with the West, ongoing regional conflicts and accusations from the US and EU allies present obstacles to reconciliation. Araghchi maintained that reducing hostility with the US is possible, even as tensions and geopolitical complexities persist.
