Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recently announced that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the construction of roads in Abuja’s satellite towns. This decision comes as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda to extend development to neglected areas. Wike highlighted the importance of infrastructure in Kwali, Gwagwalada, and Bwari area councils.
Key projects approved include the development of Artillery Road N5 and the construction of judges and justices quarters in Kantampe District. The FEC also ratified the termination of the Maitama 2 development contract to address housing deficits. Wike emphasized the swift action needed to kickstart new processes and provide funding for infrastructure development in the area.
Overall, these decisions reflect the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in satellite towns and addressing key housing challenges in the FCT. The projects are set to be completed within specified timelines to cater to the increasing demands for better road networks and residential facilities.
