Former SPLM-IO County Commissioner Defects to Ruling SPLM
A surprising turn of events unfolded today as Maban County Commissioner Peter Alberto, who was suspended from the SPLM-IO party, announced his defection to the ruling SPLM led by President Salva Kiir. This decision came after Upper Nile State Governor James Odhok Oyay suspended Alberto from his position as Commissioner of Maban County.
Alberto’s suspension was met with protests from angry demonstrators in Bunj, accusing him of mismanagement and malpractices in the county. In response, Alberto decided to join the SPLM, citing his inability to work with Governor Oyay and criticizing his divisive politics.
In a statement to Radio Tamazuj, Alberto expressed his frustration with the governor’s lack of communication and decision-making processes. He emphasized his desire for institutional order and declared his full membership in the SPLM.
Despite the controversy surrounding Alberto’s defection, Governor Oyay has remained silent on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered.
