Soldiers eliminate vandals, shut down 13 refineries in Niger Delta

The 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has reported significant success in its ongoing anti-illegal bunkering operations in the Niger Delta region. Two armed vandals were neutralised in a gun duel, and two AK-47 rifles were recovered. Additionally, 18 suspects were arrested, 13 illegal refining sites were destroyed, seven boats were seized, and over 60,000 litres of stolen products were confiscated.

The Acting Deputy Director, Lit-Col. Jonah Danjuma, highlighted the Army’s achievements and emphasized the consolidation of efforts in combating illegal activities. The troops swiftly responded to a criminal attempt to vandalize the Nigerian Agip Oil Company pipeline, resulting in the neutralization of two criminals and recovery of weapons.

Further operations in Bille and Odagba village led to the deactivation of illegal refining sites, interception of stolen products, and destruction of equipment. In Akwa Ibom, six drums of premium motor spirit were intercepted, preventing smuggling activities.

The division’s General Officer Commanding, Maj-Gen. Jamal Abdussalam, commended the troops and pledged to sustain operations in the region. The Army’s dedication to combating illegal activities underscores its commitment to maintaining security and integrity.
