Russians setting up air defense towers on Tuzla Spit to safeguard Crimea bridge

The occupiers are stepping up their presence in Crimea by installing air defense systems on towers near the Kerch Strait, as reported by the Crimean Center for Investigative Journalism (CCIJ). The Russians have placed two metal towers with Pantsir-S1M air defense missile systems on Tuzla Island, next to the Kerch Bridge, to protect the illegally constructed bridge. These towers, standing at 30-35 meters above sea level, create a “security dome” over the area, covering a radius of 20 km and height of 15 km. The Pantsir-S1M systems can also be combined into groups to enhance protection.

According to publicly available photos and videos, the occupiers managed to set up the towers within a week along Tuzla Spit. The CCIJ’s investigation revealed the installation of the air defense systems and other military structures on the towers. This move marks an escalation in the military infrastructure in the region, raising concerns about further aggression. The images captured by the CCIJ show the extent of the military buildup in the area, emphasizing the need for vigilance and international attention to this growing threat in Crimea.
