Malaysian police have made a significant breakthrough in combating child abuse by arresting hundreds of suspects involved in a care home scandal linked to an Islamic conglomerate.
In a shocking case that has rocked the nation, 355 individuals, including teachers and caregivers, have been apprehended in connection with the abuse of over 400 children.
The investigation centers around the Global Ikhwan Service and Business (GISB) group, known for its controversial ties to the banned Al-Arqam sect.
GISB leader Nasiruddin Ali and 30 other members have been taken into custody following raids on various establishments, including charity homes and religious schools.
Authorities have also frozen 96 group-related accounts holding approximately US$124,000 and confiscated eight vehicles in a bid to dismantle the abusive network.
