In a symposium at Georgetown University’s conference “Reimagining Palestine” in Doha, Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, highlighted the Israeli occupation’s aim to eradicate Palestine territories.
Barghouti emphasized that Palestinians should have the right to decide their political future, including holding democratic elections and determining their country’s fate without external interference.
Regarding ceasefire negotiations with Hamas, Barghouti criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for lack of sincerity and pushing unrealistic conditions that hinder peace efforts.
He warned that Israel’s ultimate goal is to escalate tensions and drag the region into conflict, undermining any chance for peaceful resolutions.
By advocating for Palestinian self-determination and condemning Israel’s aggressive tactics, Barghouti calls for international support to protect Palestine’s sovereignty.
Despite challenges, the resolve to achieve a just and lasting solution in the region remains steadfast.
