During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Cuban Foreign Minister Berno Rodríguez Parrilla engaged in discussions about various issues of mutual interest. The meeting emphasized enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas.
Araghchi condemned the US Congress for including Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism, labeling it as a politically-motivated decision that aligns with hostile US policies. He expressed support for Cuba against US embargoes, understanding the challenges faced by the Cuban people due to US sanctions.
Addressing regional dynamics, Araghchi highlighted Israel’s aggressive actions in Gaza and Lebanon, attributing them to the Israeli government’s desperation and failure in Gaza. Parrilla reciprocated by expressing support for deepening economic, academic, and scientific ties between Tehran and Havana. He voiced Cuba’s solidarity with Iran against US hostility and showed enthusiasm for future economic collaboration.
The meeting symbolized a commitment to stronger cooperation and solidarity between Iran and Cuba, setting the stage for enhanced bilateral relations in the future.
