Revolutionizing Policing in Punjab: The Era of Smart Police Stations
The Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr Usman Anwar, revealed that a total of 99 police stations are currently under construction in various districts of the province, with 39 of them being smart stations that are nearing completion. These modern police stations are not only cost-effective but also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance law enforcement in Punjab.
Dr Anwar highlighted the significant cost-saving benefits of these smart stations, with construction costs reduced from Rs200-250 million to just Rs60-100 million. The shift to multipurpose buildings on government land is projected to save over Rs20.8 million annually.
Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Punjab Vision”, the Punjab Police is swiftly completing various projects to improve policing in the region. With the construction of smart police stations in densely populated areas like Lahore, the force is set to achieve operational excellence and efficiency.
Notably, the strategic location of these new police stations will eliminate the government’s expenditure on renting buildings, resulting in substantial savings for the national treasury. Dr Usman Anwar emphasized that all smart police stations will adhere to Special Initiative Police Stations Protocol and SOPs, ensuring effective and standardized law enforcement practices across Punjab.
With ongoing construction projects in major cities like Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi, Punjab is on the verge of revolutionizing its policing infrastructure. The era of smart police stations heralds a new era of modern, efficient, and cost-effective law enforcement in the region.
