Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based militant and political group, launched a significant attack into northern parts of Israel, escalating long-standing border tensions. The Israeli Defense Forces reported approximately 150 rockets, cruise missiles, and UAVs aimed at northern Israel, with air defenses managing to prevent significant damage. Following Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah launched attacks into Israel’s north in solidarity with Hamas, both labeled as terrorist groups by the U.S. The conflict in Gaza led to over 41,000 deaths and a dire humanitarian crisis, while clashes between Israel and Hezbollah displaced thousands and forced more than 100,000 in Lebanon from their homes.
Hezbollah targeted areas over 30 miles into Israel, including strategic bases, using advanced missiles. Amidst escalating tensions, the Israeli Defense Minister announced a “new phase” of war, diverting resources to the north. As violence intensifies, the UN warns of an impending catastrophe.
