After decades on the run, a 65-year-old man has been arrested in Italy for two murders dating back to 1977 in Australia. The brutal crime involved the stabbing of 27-year-old Suzanne Armstrong and 28-year-old Susan Bartlett in their apartment, while Armstrong’s 16-month-old baby survived. Australian authorities identified the suspect through DNA testing, after he had been living in Greece to avoid arrest due to statute of limitations.
The alleged killer, who arrived in Italy for a vacation, was promptly detained upon arrival. Now, Australian police are expected to request his extradition to face justice for the heinous crimes committed over four decades ago.
