Recently, North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee attended the 1st BRICS Women’s Forum in Russia. This move signifies a close relationship between North Korea and Russia, as North Korea seeks to strengthen cooperation with BRICS, led by Russia and China.

Choi Song-hee participated in the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum and the 1st BRICS Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg, where she discussed important global issues. She emphasized the need to move away from the aggressive and confrontational policies of some Western countries, advocating for a multipolar world based on freedom and justice.

North Korea’s increasing interest in BRICS was also noted by analysts, especially as the country deepens its cooperation with Russia. The recent participation of North Korean officials in BRICS-related events reflects a broader strategy of economic and political collaboration.

BRICS, established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, aims to counter Western economic alliances. With Russia currently holding the chairmanship, BRICS continues to expand its influence by welcoming new member countries and attracting interest from nations in Southeast Asia and Africa.

Overall, North Korea’s involvement in BRICS forums signals a key step towards building inclusive and cooperative relationships on a global scale.
