Western Bahr el-Ghazal Poised for Abundant Harvests

Good news for farmers in Western Bahr el-Ghazal State! This year’s harvest is expected to be better than the previous year, thanks to improved productivity and security. According to the Farmer’s Union Information Secretary, Suleiman Ramadhan Juma, the state has not experienced any insecurity, leading to higher production levels.

Despite some challenges like floods in certain areas, the impact on agriculture has been minimal, particularly in Jur River County and Raja. Local produce has already started arriving in markets, resulting in a slight decrease in prices.

Juma expressed his gratitude towards local and international agriculture partners for their support, especially in providing seeds. He also acknowledged the Bank of Agriculture for its significant contributions and urged continued support for the farmers in the coming years.

However, challenges such as the lack of modern farming methods, tools, and certified seeds persist. Juma called on the national government to provide local farmers with necessary tools and tractors to enhance productivity.
