Recent attacks in Lebanon has prompted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to speak out against Israel’s actions, accusing the Israeli government of spreading war in the region. Erdogan called on Western countries to take “deterrent steps” to address Israel’s aggression.
During a press conference, Erdogan emphasized the need for increased pressure on Israel to prevent further escalation of conflict. He condemned the attacks on communication devices in Lebanon, believed to be carried out by Israel, which resulted in the deaths of 39 people.
As Erdogan prepares to address the UN General Assembly, he plans to prioritize the issue of Israel’s war on Gaza. Turkey has halted trade with Israel and sought to join a case at the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide. Israel, however, denies these allegations.
The ongoing violence in Gaza has led to thousands of casualties, with hospitals and residential areas being targeted. Erdogan has urged the international community, especially the UN, to take action to establish a lasting ceasefire and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid.
