In a shocking incident in Toronto, middle school students were reportedly coerced into participating in a protest by their teachers. The students, dressed in blue shirts to identify themselves as “settlers” and “colonizers,” were supposed to be there to observe but ended up participating actively, chanting anti-Israel slogans.
‘You’ll get over it’
While the protest was meant to support the Grassy Narrows First Nation and the water crisis, it quickly turned into a platform for anti-Israel rhetoric. One Jewish student expressed discomfort with the chants, only to be dismissed by their teacher.
Officials and parents alike expressed disappointment and concern over the incident. Ontario Education Minister Jill Dunlop condemned the compromise of student safety and called for a thorough review by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).

Canadian MP Kevin Vuong demanded accountability for the teachers who misled parents about the purpose of the field trip. The TDSB promised an investigation, but the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) deemed it insufficient, emphasizing the need for a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
