Russian cities cancel Shaman’s shows due to low ticket sales

Russian cities are canceling pro-war singer Shaman’s concerts due to low ticket sales for his “Victory” tour, reported by independent news outlet Agentstvo. Despite kicking off his 100-city tour last month with plans to perform in occupied Ukrainian cities, Shaman faced cancellations in Nizhny Tagil and Magnitogorsk over “technical reasons.” Only half of the tickets were sold for the Nizhny Tagil show, and there was little enthusiasm for the Magnitogorsk event.

Backlash over Shaman’s high performance fees, including a 16-million-ruble concert in Orenburg, has led to criticism. Recent cancellations and refund requirements from regional authorities indicate a rocky road for the singer. With future concerts in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, and Tver at risk of cancellation due to poor ticket sales, Shaman’s popularity seems to be waning.

Despite some sold-out shows in Perm, Kurgan, and Tyumen, TV ratings for Shaman’s performances have been lower compared to other popular programs. The singer’s attempt to program his audience with pro-war sentiments has not translated to success in ticket sales and public reception.
