In a bid to boost trade in agriculture and food products, Russia and India are working together to remove non-tariff barriers hindering imports, officials have confirmed to RT. The Russian government is actively working to facilitate market access for Indian exporters, especially in categories like whole grains, pulses, millets, processed foods, spices, and fruits.
With bilateral trade reaching over $65 billion last year, both countries are aiming to expand and diversify their trade relationship. India, ranking eighth in global agricultural exports, has significant potential to enhance trade with Russia, particularly in key export items like guar gum, non-basmati rice, buffalo meat, and processed foods.
India is seeking investments from Russia in the food processing sector, offering government incentives for domestic and foreign players. Discussions are also underway to build warehouses near Russia’s major ports to store Indian products, providing easier access for Russian buyers while reducing costs and time.
With India’s expertise in fruit production, pulses, snacks, and processed foods, the collaboration between India and Russia is set to further flourish in the agricultural and food sectors.
