Pentagon Approves Sale of AGM-154C Missiles to Morocco in $250 Million Deal
The Pentagon has given the green light for the sale of 40 AGM-154C Joint Standoff Weapons (JSOW) missiles to Morocco, a valued non-NATO ally, in a deal worth $250 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced the approval, which includes advanced munitions, training systems, and logistical support to enhance Morocco’s national defense capabilities.
Raytheon manufactures the AGM-154C missile, known for its advanced glide bomb systems that offer air forces high-precision strikes on protected targets day or night, regardless of weather conditions. With a multi-stage warhead and GPS positioning system, the AGM-154C provides significant strike power and ranges up to 120 kilometers from high altitudes.
The sale, published in the Federal Register on September 11, supports U.S. national security interests and strengthens Morocco’s security as a key player in safeguarding strategic maritime routes. This acquisition marks a milestone for the Moroccan armed forces, as they integrate precision missiles, making Morocco the first African nation to possess such advanced weaponry.
