South Sudan Passport Issuance Resumes: What You Need to Know

Exciting news for South Sudanese citizens – the issuance of passports has resumed after a temporary halt. The Director General of the Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport, and Immigration, Maj Gen Simon Majur Pabek, announced that production will start next week.

The pause in passport production was due to technical issues with the system, which have now been resolved. The German technology provider, Muhlbauer, had shut down the system on August 25, but after fixing the problems, printing can now commence.

With a limited supply of passport booklets, priority will be given to those with urgent medical referrals, students, and nationals working abroad. Government officials are urged to use special and official passports as there is a shortage of diplomatic passport booklets.

Pabek emphasized that although the number of passports available is limited, efforts will be made to prioritize issuance for students, individuals with medical needs, and those working internationally.
