Pakistan reports 3 new polio cases, total now 21: NEOC

Polio Cases on the Rise in Pakistan

The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) reported three new polio cases, bringing the total for the year to 21. Pakistan, along with Afghanistan, remains one of the last two countries where polio is endemic. Despite global efforts, challenges like security issues and vaccine hesitancy have hindered progress.

The recent cases were reported from Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PM’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication stressed the importance of mandatory vaccination, stating that the government is committed to eradicating polio.

Dengue Outbreak in Punjab

The Punjab Health Department confirmed 70 new dengue cases in the province, with 326 cases reported in the past week alone. Preventive measures are in place, and hospitals have the necessary treatments available. Citizens are advised to maintain clean surroundings and cooperate with health teams to control the outbreak.

Vigilance and proactive efforts are essential in containing the spread of the virus in Punjab. A free helpline is available for treatment information and complaints.
