The Global Response to the Palestinian Plight: A Hypocritical Standoff

On September 18, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution demanding Israel to end its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory within a year. With a vote of 124 in favor, 12 against, and 43 abstentions, the resolution highlighted the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights.

Despite this milestone, the fact that 54 countries did not support the resolution cannot be ignored. This demonstrates a lack of moral courage and a hypocritical stance in global governance. International law is clear: occupation is a criminal act, and the Israeli occupation has been deemed illegal by the International Court of Justice.

The US, UK, and Germany, among others, have been criticized for their contradictory positions on occupations and human rights. The failure to hold Israel accountable sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the global legal framework.

To uphold justice and prevent further atrocities, a unified commitment to human rights and international law is essential. Only through decisive action can the world steer clear of a lawless future.
