The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Imo, Mrs. Mary Mbanugo, has announced that officers of the NSCDC are prepared for deployment to cover the upcoming Edo governorship and Imo council elections. This statement was released by the NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer in Imo, Mr. Lowell Chimeziri.
Mbanugo recently took over the position from her predecessor, Mr. Matthew Ovye, who was transferred to Delta. The Imo command has already deployed many officers to Edo for the governorship poll, with others assigned to cover the council elections in Imo on September 21.
During a meeting with the command’s personnel, Mbanugo emphasized the importance of operating within the bounds of the law and urged them not to exploit the electorate. She stressed the need for professionalism before, during, and after the elections in both states.
Mbanugo expressed confidence in the success of the elections, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation among security agencies. With a focus on security and professionalism, the NSCDC is committed to ensuring a smooth electoral process in both Edo and Imo.
