In a recent Israeli air strike on southern Beirut, about ten high-ranking commanders of the Lebanese Hezbollah, including Ibrahim Aqil, were killed, according to Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari, the spokesman for the Israeli army. Hagari revealed that the elite Radwan unit of Hezbollah, led by Aqil, was targeted while gathered in the basement of a building.
The Times of Israel reported that these commanders were instrumental in planning and leading Hezbollah’s terrorist attacks on northern Israel. It was revealed that Hezbollah had plans to launch an incursion into Israeli territory similar to the attack by Hamas from Gaza last year, which initiated a war between Israel and the Palestinian organization.
Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, announced that the country will continue its actions in the conflict with Hezbollah until displaced Israelis can safely return home. Following the assassination of Aqil in Lebanon, a thorough assessment of the situation was conducted with senior officers by the Israeli army.
