Explosions of communication devices in Lebanon last week left over 450 people seriously injured, adding to the thousands of injuries caused. The incidents were attributed to Israeli sabotage attacks, with more than 4,000 pagers exploding on Tuesday followed by wireless radio communication devices on Wednesday.
The Hungarian intelligence forces questioned the Director General of BAC Consulting Company in connection with the explosions, as the Taiwanese company ‘Gold Apollo’ clarified that the pagers were produced by a Hungarian company under their brand license. The Director-General, Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, denied involvement in manufacturing and claimed to be only a dealer.
The Hungarian government’s Office of International Media confirmed ongoing investigations and discussions with Barsony. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s administration emphasized that BAC was a commercial intermediary without factories in Hungary. The incidents come amid heightened tensions in the region following the assassination of Ismail Haniya, Head of Hamas Political Bureau, in Tehran.
With casualties rising, the situation in Lebanon continues to raise concerns about terrorism, while discussions on Israeli strategies and the impact of these incidents gain momentum.
