FG, Benue distribute relief materials to IDPs amidst dispute

Exciting news from Benue State as the Federal and State governments come together to distribute disputed relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable individuals in Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas. After a brief impounding of the materials, the intervention from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was facilitated by lawmaker Terseer Ugbor, ensuring the items reached those in need.

Governor Hyacinth Alia’s release of the materials to the EFCC and ICPC for onward distribution signifies a commitment to transparency and accountability in the process. With key stakeholders present during the distribution, including NEMA representatives, government officials, and traditional leaders, the distribution was supervised to ensure fairness.

The distribution encompassed a range of essential items such as clothing, mosquito nets, food supplies, and cooking essentials. The SEMA Acting Executive Secretary commended the Federal Government and lawmaker Ugbor for their efforts in securing these materials, emphasizing the importance of following due process in future interventions.

This collaborative effort demonstrates a commitment to assisting vulnerable populations and ensuring that relief materials reach those who need them most.
