EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina 7th Stabilisation and Association Committee meeting

Recently, the 7th meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union was held in Brussels. Co-chaired by prominent figures on both sides, the meeting focused on political and economic criteria. With Bosnia and Herzegovina making significant progress and the European Council deciding to open accession negotiations, the emphasis was on further reforms and alignment with EU standards.

The European Commission stressed the need for Bosnia and Herzegovina to finalize a national plan for adopting the EU acquis and appoint a Chief Negotiator. The Commission also encouraged the submission of an ambitious Reform Agenda to unlock funds for the country’s growth and development.

Additionally, there were discussions on strengthening the rule of law, combating organized crime, and enhancing economic reforms. The Commission urged for legislative alignment and accelerated transition towards digital and green initiatives.

Looking ahead, the focus will be on engaging in further dialogues, implementing reforms, and aligning with EU standards to progress towards integration. The next cycle of meetings is scheduled to take place in 2024/2025 to set the agenda for future collaborations.
