The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Approves Results of Recent Snap Election
In a plenary session held today, Azerbaijan’s Constitutional Court approved the results of the recent snap election for the country’s parliament of the 7th convocation. The election took place in 125 constituencies, resulting in a new list of MPs for the Azerbaijani parliament of VII convocation.
The snap parliamentary election, which occurred on September 1, saw a total of 112,749 local observers monitoring the process, with over 65,000 of them representing political parties. Additionally, 598 international observers from 51 organizations in 69 countries were present.
Out of 990 registered candidates, 305 were from 25 political parties. Interestingly, 371 candidates had party affiliation but were not nominated by their respective parties. In total, 676 candidates had political party ties.
