The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 93.76 percent of the results of the Edo governorship election on the viewing portal (IReV). Out of a total of 4,519 results, 4,237 have been uploaded so far, with the APC and PDP leading in their respective strongholds.
Labour Party and its candidate have officially been eliminated from the race. The resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Edo, Anugbum Onuoha, confirmed that the election results will be transmitted electronically, utilizing BVAS technology in the polling units across the 18 local governments.
Despite concerns about network issues, Onuoha assured that every effort would be made to ensure a transparent and credible election process. Over 2.2 million permanent voter cards have been collected, with candidates from various parties vying for the governorship position.
The winner of this election will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, with both the PDP and APC candidates winning their respective polling units. The final outcome is eagerly anticipated as the state prepares for a new leadership transition.
