Azerbaijan’s Western Community Condemns Biased US Congress Hearings
The Western Azerbaijan Community recently issued a statement expressing deep concern over the hearings held at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the US Congress. The hearings, titled ‘Human Rights in Azerbaijan after the Fall of Nagorno-Karabakh,’ were criticized for their biased accusations against Azerbaijan.
The statement highlighted the displacement of around 800 thousand Azerbaijanis due to nearly 30 years of occupation by Armenia, as well as the prevention of their return. It also emphasized the discrimination faced by Azerbaijanis, including the expulsion of hundreds of thousands from Armenia.
The Community condemned the US Congress for showing disrespect towards Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, calling on them to abandon their biased stance. They urged support for the right of Azerbaijanis to return to Armenia and emphasized the importance of establishing a just and lasting peace in the region.
