Recent opinion polls in Finland have shown a rise in support for the Social Democratic Party, solidifying its position as the most popular political party in the country. The party’s lead over the ruling National Coalition and Finns Party has expanded, with a 1.1 percentage point increase to 22.0%.
Despite this, both the National Coalition and Finns Party also saw marginal increases in support. The public disagreement between the two ruling parties over a campaign to tackle racism has not significantly affected their popularity.
The poll results also highlighted a decline in support for the Centre Party and Left Alliance, while the Green League struggled to maintain its position. The ruling coalition’s overall support increased slightly to 44.5%, with the Swedish People’s Party and Christian Democrats neck and neck just above the four percent mark.
The data, gathered from 2,416 people between August 19 and September 13, shows a shifting political landscape in Finland ahead of upcoming elections.
