Russian soldiers torture American pro-Kremlin fighter to death – investigators

In a shocking revelation, Russia’s Investigative Committee announced that Russell Bentley, an American supporter of Russian occupation forces in Ukraine, was tortured to death by Russian soldiers in April. The committee identified Vitaly Vansyatsky, Vladislav Agaltsev, Vladimir Bazhin, and Andrei Iordanov as responsible for the heinous crime.

Bentley, a U.S. military veteran, went missing in occupied Donetsk Oblast after rushing to aid residents during a shelling by Ukrainian troops. The investigators concluded that he was tortured and killed on April 8, with his body being disposed of in a car by Vansyatsky and Agaltsev.

The soldiers involved have been charged with abuse of power resulting in death, desecrating a body, and concealing a crime. Russia’s recruitment of foreign fighters for its proxy forces in Donbas was highlighted, with Bentley falling prey to the propaganda portraying Kyiv as “fascist-ruled.”

A self-described communist, Bentley worked as a “war correspondent” for Russian propaganda and joined the proxy forces to combat what he believed was fascism. This tragic incident sheds light on the complexities and consequences of international conflicts.
