Police search for serial rapist who fled cells in Hammanskraal

Tshegofatso Lebudi, a 19-year-old alleged serial rapist, escaped police custody at the Temba police station in Hammanskraal, Gauteng. Lebudi, who was facing four counts of rape and other serious crimes, had been arrested in June and was remanded in the holding cells on 7 September while investigations were ongoing.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Herman Moremi stated that Lebudi was not found in the cells during a routine check at 23:00. The community was urged to be vigilant and report any sightings to the authorities. Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the police or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
