The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently seized a truck in Gombe State containing 2.49 million pills of tramadol worth over N2 billion. The drugs were concealed in bags of salt to evade detection and were intercepted at the entry point into Gombe. Commander Okechukwu Nkere revealed that the drugs were destined for Gombe and Borno State, highlighting the ongoing battle against illicit drugs in the region.
Three suspects have been detained, and an investigation is underway to uncover the owner of the drugs. The state government and other agencies were commended for their cooperation in seizing the illicit substances. The exhibits will be destroyed, and the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are complete.
Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello praised the agency for intercepting the drugs, emphasizing the importance of combating drug abuse in the state. This seizure is a significant blow to the illegal drug trade and reflects the collaborative efforts to rid Gombe State of such substances.
