The Committee on Consequential Adjustments in Salaries for civil servants has announced that the new minimum wage will take effect from July 29, 2024. This decision was reached during a recent meeting in Abuja, as outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding.
According to the MoU, the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC) will develop salary templates for the implementation of the increased minimum wage, with the effective date set for July 29, 2024. This adjustment follows the National Minimum Wage Act 2024, which raised the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.
The committee, comprising 16 members, was tasked with negotiating and finalizing the consequential adjustments in salaries. Its responsibilities also include creating a framework for the rollout of the approved minimum wage.
Stay tuned for more updates on this important development.
