Home affairs offices open Saturdays to assist matriculants in obtaining IDs

The Home Affairs Department is making it easier for matriculants to apply for and collect their IDs by opening their offices for five hours on Saturdays, from September 21 to October 12. This initiative aims to prioritize matriculants during this crucial exam period, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about their identification documents.

Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber emphasized the importance of empowering young people through education and ensuring they have the necessary documents for their exams. The offices will be open from 8am to 1pm, giving matriculants and their parents ample time to visit their nearest Home Affairs office.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube applauded the collaboration between government departments, highlighting the significance of providing support to matriculants during this critical academic phase. Valid identification is essential for exam purposes, and this initiative demonstrates a proactive approach to meeting the needs of learners.

By working together, government departments can make a positive impact on the education sector and empower young individuals to succeed.
