Record Tourism Receipts Reach 59.4 Billion Dirhams in 2024
The tourism industry in Morocco has seen a significant boost, with tourism receipts in foreign currency reaching 59.4 billion dirhams in the first seven months of 2024. Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, revealed this impressive growth during a presentation of the summer season results in Rabat.
Compared to the same period in 2023, this increase represents a 3.5% growth, amounting to an additional 2 billion dirhams. The Minister also highlighted that tourist arrivals in July and August reached 4.4 million, marking a substantial 21% increase from the previous year.
Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, emphasized the importance of the government’s 2023-2026 tourism roadmap in achieving these results. This strategy has focused on enhancing air links and marketing efforts, leading to a 30% increase in air transport capacity compared to 2023.
