Chinese Defense Ministry Condemns U.S. Arms Sales to Taiwan
China’s Defense Ministry has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the United States’ decision to sell arms to Taiwan, a region China considers part of its territory. The Ministry spokesperson, Zhang Xiaogang, condemned the arms sales as a violation of the one-China principle and previous agreements between the two countries.
The Ministry has lodged formal complaints with the U.S., emphasizing that Taiwan independence activities are a threat to peace in the region. Zhang urged the U.S. to stop supporting Taiwan independence and refrain from arming the region further. The People’s Liberation Army is prepared to counter any separatist actions or external interference.
This latest development highlights the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and China over the Taiwan issue, which remains a key point of contention in their bilateral relationship.
