The Burundian government, in partnership with the Chinese Embassy, inked a deal to construct an 11-story building in Gitega to accommodate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation. Minister Albert Shingiro and Ambassador Zhao Jiangping sealed the agreement, expressing gratitude for China’s donation.

Expected to be finished by 2028, the building will centralize ministry functions currently spread out, enhancing efficiency. This move strengthens the longstanding relationship between Burundi and China, which dates back to 1963. Feasibility studies were completed at the 2024 FOCAC Summit, underscoring the commitment to mutual cooperation in various sectors.

The collaborative effort between the two countries signals a new chapter in infrastructure development and mutual growth. The project symbolizes the continuous support and friendship that exists between the two nations.
